The themes

Like keywords, themes are managed centrally, but in a different thesaurus. However, themes are always restricted to the workgroup, so each has its own specific list. When tagging, only workgroup themes are displayed, and it is necessary to first add them to the restricted list to see them appear.

Manage workgroup themes

As with keywords, each theme is qualified by its number of occurrences throughout Isogeo and the workgroup.

Via the Administration tab

This interface, similar to that for keywords, enables the administrators of each workgroup to browse the thesaurus of themes and select those that best correspond to the themes of the inventoried data.

Tip

Go directly to themes.

Manage themes

Detailed operation :

  • on the left, the list of existing themes and their number of occurrences in the thematic thesaurus. By entering a term in the search bar at the top, the list is filtered, and if the term you're looking for doesn't exist, a button appears offering to create a new theme. By clicking on the + icon to the right of a term, you can add it to the group list;

  • on the right, the list of themes available in the workgroup. The list may contain themes that have not yet been assigned to a metadata record. By clicking on the number of occurrences of the theme in the workgroup, a filtered search on the theme is performed.

Sorting functionality is identical to that of keywords. Please refer to the keywords page for more information.

Themes will always be displayed in lower case with a capital letter on the first character, as with Inspire themes.

When it comes to labelling

Themes can be distinguished from keywords by the paperclip symbol displayed next to them. The user can also choose to display only the themes of the workgroup, using the View all workgroup themes button. It is not possible to create a new theme from within the labeling tool, so it is necessary for an administrator to define a precise list of themes beforehand.

Tip

See the page dedicated to labeling.
