Creating INSPIRE metadata

Responding to the INSPIRE directive is a major challenge for players in the geographic information sector. In addition to the national and European expertise that Isogeo brings to projects with its customers, the tool makes it quick and easy to meet the directive's requirements.

See the table of correspondence between Isogeo fields and the INSPIRE directive:

Tip

The ISO category is automatically deduced from the INSPIRE theme by Isogeo.

Validator

The INSPIRE validator, adopted by the European community, is directly integrated into the Isogeo solution.

As soon as data is classified in an Inspire theme (see dedicated chapter), the validator is launched and checks the conformity of your metadata record:

  • if valid, the message "This file is Inspire compliant" is displayed in green in the Identification tab;
  • if any information is missing, it is listed in yellow.
The validator indicates that the metadata is not compliant The validator indicates that the metadata is compliant
INSPIRE - Invalid INSPIRE - Valid

Tip

The validator is only activated for metadata in vector or raster datasets

Fields required by the integrated INSPIRE validator

In order for the validator to indicate that the file complies with the directive, the following fields must be completed:

  • Title
  • Summary
  • Geographical reach
  • Collection context
  • Resolution or scale
  • Contact
  • Encoding
  • Format and version
  • Data creation date
