Associating a data sheet with a service layer

Once a service record has been documented and its layers identified (automatically or manually), they need to be linked to the data records.

How it works

The principle is to associate a layer with a piece of data. The association is bidirectional:

  • or from the service file layer ;
  • or from the data record.

Prerequisites

  • have documented a service card (see previous chapter);
  • have data sheets to associate with service layers (either scanned or manually created).

Illustrated procedure for combining layers

From the service file

  1. Open the department file on the Resourcestab andactivate the edit mode by clicking on the Modify button;
  2. Uncheck the Associated box and enter a layer name to filter on the layer to be associated (among those in light blue);

  3. Click on the icon to open the association window. Search for the data to be associated with the service layer. Check in the right-hand pane before clicking on Validate;

    WMS association

  4. Once the association has been validated, the layer is now displayed in dark blue in the list of service layers. Click on Save.

  5. The title of the associated data sheet is now displayed. Clicking on it opens the same data sheet.

    WMS within dataset

From the dataset file

  1. Open the dataset file on the Resourcestab andactivate the edit mode by clicking on the Modify button;
  2. In the Associated layers column, click on the + Associate a service layer button. The association window appears, filtering on service records and displaying the number of unassociated layers. Select the layer you wish to associate and click on Validate;

  3. Once the association has been validated, the layer is added to the column. The service type is clearly displayed, along with the associated layer identifier and the title of the associated service form. Clicking on the latter opens the service sheet.

  4. Click on Save.

Detailed features of the association

  • in shares, the associated layer is visible in the dataset record if and only if the service record is in the same share. See the section dedicated to this advanced mechanism on link visibility by share.

  • a service layer can only be associated with one dataset record, and a dataset record can only be associated with one layer per service (relation 1-1). It is therefore not possible to associate all the layers of a single WMS service with the same dataset record, for example.

  • it is possible to edit the title and identifier of a file via the icon

Tip

To dissociate a layer from a piece of data, simply click on the icon at the bottom of the layer.
